I have argued on other boards that the Nat Guard during Katrina in NO, w/ the exception of the units that said they wouldnt, did actively participate in gun confiscations-

My brother was sent to NO to police the city. I guess his unit was constantly getting shot at. Lots of meth-heads with stolen guns. Total anarchy. I don't know if he confiscated guns. He did have to control the idiot cops who didn't know how to deal with the disaster, until one of the supposed SWAT morons with his unit slipped out of a moving helo 30ft. off the ground and pulled my brother out with him. I have all kinds of stories about that fiasco. Suffice to say that no one from the NH Guard thinks highly of "SWAT".

I don't trust people when they get desperate.... they tend to do stupid things.

not to mention black water was there NO as well though god knows why ... they shouldn't have been imo. and they did a large amount of confiscating from what ive read , of course what i read were supposed first hand accounts by journalist and civilians.
a bit after katrina like two or so weeks , trent reznor of nine inch nails got a tour through the NO with the mayor's office and in several of his pictures you could see black water suv's and guards .. its part of what inspired him to write his Year Zero album..

I cant speak for all of blackwater, but the ones I did see were just guarding convoys and museums etc as well as the french Quarter areas that were still open.


Ive heard that too but have yet to see any proof. I would like to know

The main culprits Im aware of were-

California LE Agencies, namely the CHP

Oklahoma Nat Guard

NOPD


The Kansas guard IIRC flat refused to do any such thing
