There has been some happening that has required my constant presence at my wifes side when she is at our property w/ her horses. I have decided, and she agrees(sorta) that she needs a gun in the car for her, now heres the problem-

We are extremely broke right now AFA extras go, i have a few hundred bucks coming in soon so the price range on the gun must be between 200 and a max of $300

Ive looked at surplus guns, and most are 9x18 so finding SD ammo will be tough though theres a lot of choices there that i like

Ive looked at Bersa .380s etc, and I dont know anything about this lower level of guns. Whats the consensus on Bersa and the like (except Hi-Points which I wont buy) as well as suggestions/thoughts

Halp!!!

How about a used Sig? ($325)

Consider the extra cost a comfort tax... the comfort of a proven firearm. ;)

Hope everything works out okay, and she never needs to use it.

Is your wife familiar with the way firearms function? If not she may be more comfortable with a revolver. I know my gf is.

I had wanted the SIG, but currently everyone is out. they run about $280 or so

That Rossi looks good too!

I think a used pistol or revolver is the way to go. I'd also recommend at least a 9mm. .380, IMO, is below the threshold of a reliable stopping round.

9mm is cheap enough to practice with, and when pressed into duty it performs very well using +P ammo. Even borders on .357 Sig performance.
