well, fire-able at least. I would call this about 95% done. I still want a new stock and optics.

Hawt.

Why'd you choose the A1 handguards, and what stamp is that on the lower? (brand)

1) 'cuz i've always loved the look and feel of them over the circle ones.

2) DPMS.

Very nice FuFu. I'm too broke to buy anymore firearms. Had to sell my AR, but I'll be back soon once I get a steady job.

I feel like less of a man because I have no guns right now. (jumpsoffbuilding)

They were the last thing I sold, EVERYTHING went before them but U still had to sell. Even if I had kept them I would have lost them in bankruptcy.

FuFu, I have to agree with you, I really like A1 hand guards.

Did you go with gas operated, or piston?

that would be 'direct' or 'piston', it isn't a blowback, it defenitley is gas-operated either way ;)

it's gas, but after cleaning it twice, i'm very seriously considering a piston conversion, i tells ya.

I prefer piston, as it's a self cleaning system, but honestly, if you keep it lubed, it shouldn't matter too much.

Just seems kinda stupid to dump hot dirty gases where the rifle feeds.

I want to grab an M1A at some point, but I want to convert it to piston. Won't cost too much, but it's 50-100 bucks farther from my M1A.

M1a rifles are gas piston operated weapons

what you're talking about is the direct blowback system as found on the M-16 family of rifles, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_impingement as opposed to the gas piston/operating rod system used by most semi-auto rifles including the M1a family

actually, it's a 16", so you both fail.

I almost got a 18" bbl, but the price was very for from right, so 16" it was.
