Posting on an older thread, forgive me, gentlemen. The gas-piston retrofit, from what I've researched and tried on my AR is a new bit of tech who's day has come. I saw a documentary on the History Channel concerning the new HK 416, saw the demo and the shooter remove the bolt immediately after firing and hold it in his hand. I tried it with my Bushmaster and it is true. I'm a bit of an "old-school" fundamentalist when it comes to the Black Rifle, but I'm putting the money forward at tax-return time to fit my rifle for this one.

Is it only for 16" barrels? Can it go in a full-sized 20" rifle?

I dont think anyone makes a drop in/add on kit for a fullsize

If you get a dissipator type barrel from Bushmaster but made to 20" etc; they use a carbine gas system IIRC and then it would perhaps
